Shira Greenfield is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. Shira received her Masters degree in counselor education from the University of Iowa in 1985. Since then she has worked as a therapist, a crisis intervention worker, a diagnostician, a clinical manager and an educator. She is currently a Manager for Northwestern Medicine’s Woodstock Hospital Behavioral Health Services.
According to the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration, 68.9 percent of the estimated 22.4 million illicit drug users , ages 18 and older, are employed full or part time and the toll this takes on the workplace is substantial. This presentation will discuss the prevalence and negative impact substance use has in the workplace, the signs and symptoms of commonly abused substances, and the importance of treatment.
